The international conference Opening the Scientific Knowledge was held at the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences in Vilnius. The event is organized by the Lithuanian Research Library Consortium within the EIFL funded national open access advocacy campaign Promoting Open Access in Lithuania.

The EIFL Open Access Programme received the 2011 SPARC Europe Award for outstanding achievements in promoting research communication during the recent three-year period. On behalf of the EIFL the award was collected by Emilija Banionytė, President of the LMBA. More information is available on the EIFL website.

The international conference Innovation and Creativity in E-learning Process financed by the Programme of Lithuanian Virtual University was arranged at Kaunas University of Technology. The discussion about the situation in open access to research information, tendencies and problems worldwide and in Lithuania was held in the open access section.
